Race Driver: GRID is the latest addition to the TOCA Touring Car series by Codemasters. It will be available on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, as well as Windows PCs. The game is due for release in June of 2008. GRID is all about the race- that period from lights to flag, full of tension, pressure, noise, and action. GRID will take you to beautifully realized and dramatic race locations over three continents to compete in an unprecedented variety of racing events. Packed with the most powerful race cars, Grid will let you compete to conquer the most prestigious official race tracks and championships and then go beyond to compete in challenging city-based competitions, through to road events and urban street races. In Europe, you will compete on the greatest official tracks in prestige Marques including Aston Martin, Koenigsegg and Pagani. Iconic cities across the U.S. - including San Francisco, Washington DC and Detroit, each with their own atmosphere and events - play host to diverse street races. Here, high-performance V8 muscle cars set the pace in aggressive, closely-fought pack competitions. In the Far East, Japanese racing culture sets the tone where night races, including Drift racing, take drivers through neon-illuminated cities and to outlying mountain roads. There is also the opportunity to compete in races that operate on the fringes of legality in the back streets and industrial areas of Yokohama.

You’re under the employment of the CRW (Counter Revolutionary Warfare) wing of the British Special Air Service (SAS). You’d better have nerves of steel to survive The Regiment, because it is much more than just a game - what lies ahead is a tense, accurate simulation of close quarters combat, based on briefings and scenarios supplied by SAS veterans.

Scenarios in The Regiment challenge you to lead four-man teams in assaults on terrorist strongholds, rescue hostages held at gunpoint, recreate the deadly climax to the Iranian Embassy Siege of 1980 or fight battles in Britain’s corridors of power in a daring rescue at the Houses of Parliament.

Gameplay is action-oriented from insertion to extraction. There’s no need for mission planning; once the SAS gets deployed, negotiations are over! The single player campaigns are based on a variety of historical and fictional scenarios, including a recreation of the Iranian Embassy Siege of 1980.

A real-time ordering system lets you take command of an SAS assault squad and guide them through brutal close quarter battles in missions to save hostages. In-depth training modes allow you to train in the world famous SAS ‘Killing House’, learning room clearance skills and perfect the dark art of ‘double tapping’. In multiplayer team training players can hone their skills for the whole team before going online and challenging others.

Ruby: Whiteout TechDemo

Ruby’s latest adventure takes place in a rugged, mountainous terrain where her skills as a snowboarder are tested and may just save her life. This fast paced, action packed demo exploits the power of the ATI Radeon HD 2900XT to create a rich and expansive landscape of snow, rock, and ice. From the procedural snow accumulation on the harsh terrain to the wrinkles on Ruby’s brow and the physics that drive each strand of fur on Ruby’s fur collar, the ATI Radeon HD 2900XT can handle it all.

In order to create an expressive, compelling character our artists constructed 128 morph targets to drive Ruby’s facial rig. All of these facial “poses” are combined using the GPU to create Ruby’s final look. Ruby also uses a number of animated wrinkle maps to add additional subtle expressiveness to her brow, eyes, mouth and chin. High dynamic range imaging techniques are used through out the Whiteout demo to account for the brightest of outdoor environments as well as the darkest depths of Ruby’s icy head quarters. Advanced light scattering techniques are employed to faithfully reproduce the complex interactions of light with snow and ice.
